I received the NOE mold a couple days ago, the 316-213-RN that I plan to use in the Mosin. This is a "copy" of the RCBS 312299 (and the 314299), but bigger, for the giant bore in the Mosin. I slugged it at .315.

Good looking mold. You would think I had taken pics of it it's virgin sate, but, NOOoooo...

So, I went down in the barn and put up my temporary casting bench. I had to use that new mold.
Took some CWW, added about 1% Sn, filled the Lee pot with ~15 lbs, ran about 9 or ten pounds of it. Here's the result.

That mold is nice. Being aluminum, it wants a hotter temp. I ran the alloy to 725°-750°, and cast at a good pace. I never did let the mold cool down. Avg weight 210gr, and the drive bands mic @.3165-.317. The nose runs right at .305.
Now I need to wait another week or two, for my custom-made .316 H&I die to come in, so I can run them thru the old Lyman 45 to lube and size. I'm getting antsy.

Whilst I was casting, I ran a pot of the alloy I blended a few weeks back - the 50/50+2.
For the uninitiated, that is 50% CWW/50% Pb (soft lead),+ 2% Sn (tin) in the form of pewter.
Ran a pot of Lee TL-430-240-SWC. I use this is the 44's. Probably 90% of the shooting I do in the 44 Mags is 1200fps or slower. And, 90% of that shooting is with these, my go-to 44 slugs. Tumble-lube and load, couldn't be easier.

And, finally, a look at the temp bench. I have to put this up and knock it back down when I finish. Eventually I plan to build a more permanent place to cast, but right now I don't have the room.

Note the high-dollar, bespoke chair. Not everyone has something like that....

Nice looking boolist from that NOE copy of LYMAN 314299, my NOE version 314299 cast at .315 with a .302 nose,
it shoots real well in my Mosin with 13.5 grains of unique.

I'm not a huge fan of Unique ( I know, heresy, right?), but I do have a couple pounds around here. I may try that 13.5 grains. I'm on a 2400 kick right now, having just acquired an 8-pounder.
I'm looking at the Lyman cast #4, they show a load for IMR 4895 of reduced velocity. I have a keg of that also, I'm going to try it. I'm going with a Dacron wad for it too.

I briefly considered the 314299, until I slugged the bore at .315. I thought of taking a chance on the 314299, but it's easier to size down than up....
