Usually I’d resurrect the old “What are you enjoying tonight” thread to talk about this delicious Kentucky Breakfast Stout and fine H. Upmann cigar, but this time is a little different. This afternoon I’m celebrating for cause. After months of selecting a builder, drawing up plans, getting land surveyed etc etc. . . We’re finally breaking ground on our future home!

Cheers guys and gals!

Exciting times for sure!

This is my “forever” house so I can’t wait to get in it. That being said, I may decide to retire outside of OK some day when the kids are grown and out of the house. That’s something I can revisit in 15-20 years.

Congrats! Take a pic every day from the same spot, from start to finish and then do a condensed time compilation of your pics, pretty cool to watch.

Thanks! Sweet idea too! I think I’ll have to snap a few up the ridiculously long gravel driveway to start it out with.

Yes, definitely take pics as it progresses. We remodeled our house last summer, and every evening I took pics of whatever got accomplished that day, and filed them by date. Not only is it fun to look through now that we are past the frustration, but I had to go back later and compile some dates as to when some specific task got completed, and it was extremely helpful to be able to pin it down.

Soonerwings,

Do yourself a favor and take your wife out to where they are turning the earth over. Take a deep breath. You will smell a sweetness, an earthy sweet musty smell my grandpa and my dad used to call "Oklahoma clean dirt". You will remember that clean dirt smell the rest of your life and with the knowledge that generations of Oklahoma farmers have also enjoyed it before you.
