He's from the old school of country singers. Ya know, back when they really could sing without the help of a computer? He will be missed.
Always liked to hear him sing.
He was a ground breaker. Country music Venues hesitated to put him on stage. Willie Nelson kissed him on stage.

I really liked him. My favorite is “Someone loves you honey”. Definitely broke down barriers in music. Country music especially. A legend has left us.
He was one of the great country singers. Do you remember Kalija ? I don't know how it is spelled. Just a good old song that highlighted his talent. It's almost weird on timing. About three days ago I was remembering our family seeing him in concert in Norfolk, Va. around 1968 ( maybe earlier) . The Sixty's were the best of times .
Those were the days when someone like Charlie sang a song you could understand the words and there was a story behind the words. He could sing! The Crystal Chandelier was one of my favorites.
I was a fan as long as I can remember.
Got to see him perform in Shawnee a few years ago and it was outstanding.
