Look into doing it yourself. There are kits online that will guide you through the process, and they aren't that expensive. Cheaper actually than having someone to it.

I've got an old 7.7 Jap Arisaka that has been converted to a .300 savage and sporterized. The previous owner hand checkered it in some really coarse lines, with some over runs, and inlayed some mother of pearl into the stock. Its funky looking as heck, but it has character. I LIKE it. (pretty good shooter)

the one I'm going to do is a marlin XL7 30-06 with a laminate stock.....its really slick....like its lubed...have considered just roughing it up with sand paper - being laminate that would be OK....but am going to check out the DIY checkering first....maybe this one will end up with some character like your Arisaka.....
