Sad to hear but he lived a long time. He signed off on my flightline badge at Edwards AFB and my wife met him when she worked in the flight surgeon office and yes he flirted with her.

RIP.

Yeager lived one helluva life. When he was test piloting he flew over all the mountain ranges from the Rockies west to the coast. He mapped out a bunch of the little "mountain puddles" (lakes) and would later grab a float plane, Piper Cub or whatever would get him there and go back to them to fish them for trout catching fish on most of his trips. What a life!

I remember looking up to him as a kid and always wanted to meet him. I never got the chance.
I came close to meeting him at a line at an airshow. I didn't want to stand in line in 100+ degree heat on tarmac for over two hours just to have him smile at me, say my name and forget it when the next person walked up.
