i still have my gasoline lanterns and the newer propane ones also but since i have cordless tools now i got the lanterns that go on the tool battery. and i can charge the cell phone off of it also

Thanks guys. I’ll save it. Does anyone know if I take the canister off, will that propane just vent out of the can?I have no idea how much is left in it since my uncle gave it to me 20 years ago lol.

It shouldn't leak, but if it's been on the lantern that long it might leak. Take it off and put a little soapy water on the valve to see if it's leaking. If it does you can just put it back on the lantern.

Take the can off of it. The can will (should) seal back up but that not 100%. Definitely handy when the power is out though.

Yeah, the bottle is self sealing and won't spew gas unless it is damaged. You can get replacements at Ace hardware or Academy type stores.
