@Pokinfun: if the textbook proceeds go to the school, then they need to make that cost included and flat. My engineering textbooks were WAY more expensive on average than my business and art school friends' books were.
Campus bookstores do make a little off of textbooks they sell there, but online textbook brokers have nearly killed that system as well (which is good). But, in the end it doesn't matter...if they don't get the revenue they need from the bookstore, they'll get it elsewhere.

Huh? I call BS. How about some real examples of this "communist ****" they teach at college now?
People see a couple of wackos on the news and decide universities are reeducation or indoctrination camps for communism and socialism. I had an English professor that was all about gun control and tree hugging, and a political science professor that edged on socialist, but the rest were pretty moderate, in class.
I did go to an economics conference once, given by a professor from Ohio I think, that thought the Constitution was worthless because it created a free market.

You aren't dumb nor blind. It's no secret colleges in the US have been cesspools of leftist ideology since the 60s.

Let's recall when Reagan had to crush such abprotest as governor of California. While the leftists went around assaulting people, infringing on peoples rights and burning down buildings. With the push of the professors who outnumber conservative professors 12-1

My current advice to people I talk to about engineering degrees is if possible, do something in high school or immediately after that can make a decent income (vs a high school diploma) like CAD, welding, mechanic, programming, or similar. Any of those are useful in engineering, and can make your during-college career at least pay better than McD's. Then do pre-engineering at a JuCo or local state school and get an associates in that. If necessary, (I'd even argue if at all possible do this) take a break for a year or so afterwards to pay off any debt accrued during that time. My brother did this at Rose State, and they have a program where as long as your grades stay above a certain GPA, tuition is free. Then finish the bachelors at a 4 year college with a strong engineering program. All the relevant work experience will put you a step ahead of other 4 year graduates, and you can do that with little to no debt.

Definitely a smart way to go. At an aerospace shop I worked at we had a CNC programmer doing basically this and he started in CAD. They helped out on his tuition too while he was there as most places will. Last I heard he had his masters and was working as a design engineer for Raytheon so he definitely worked toward a goal.

we use a Dave Ramsey curriculum. The problem is their parents never teach them about finance. Money management is a value, we can teach a set of skills, but we cannot teach values.
I listened to him today. Nothing wrong with his teachings for the most part.
Here is where I drop into the What the Heck? (nothing against him)

My Ex wife was a got a dime, spend it and get a loan to spend the next dime.
One of the reasons for the divorce was a lack of fiscal spending. As well as other issues, but down the road, the kids even into their adult life followed her example. Heredity? LOL,
I don't understand. I had them get checking accounts when in their early teens as well as savings accounts.
Same thing my parents did to me. Earn a dime, put 5 cents into savings.
The younger son finally came around, but senior just can't do that. Spend it because I'll be dead tomorrow is his mantra I think.

There.... FIFY. ;)

Exactly. There is an OSU monolith with surrounding landscaping at the exit to Sand Springs in Tulsa.
That had to cost a half million or so. WTF purpose does it serve? Perhaps OSU could have taken that money to do something constructive other than put that monolith there? Maybe a road sign that cost a couple thousand that would have got the same message across?
