dunno know about all that, i do know i've fired several 1911's with spur hammers and never once had the mythical hammer bite, fired many "unrelieved" ejection ports without problems. the appeal? 1911's have soul, perfect grip angle, and good ones are made of steel and wood. what's not to like?

but, get whatever floats your boat.

I LOVE the traditional style Colt and the only thing I don't like about that new Govt Model in the picture above... is the front sight. I like(again) the traditional "small" front sight.

That's why I carried a 1911 for 15 years. Browning was a freakin genius. The improvements were necessary for some people and some ammo. Browning did not design for hollowpoints and big beefy mitts.
