I have one from 1990-1991. Pre ban Model sporter target. It is in excellent shape. Extremely low round count. All original. No bayonet lug, no sear block. I would like some opinions on how or what I should price it at. I have been thinking of selling it to fund another build. I put a few rounds through it about 10-15 years ago when I got it and it’s been in the safe ever since. I can add pics tomorrow. I found some that had sold on the web from 5-10 years ago at auction and not found any for sale that was my specific model.

I started trading in preban Colt AR’s in the mid 90’s, and from then until the AWB sunset, what you have was a very sought after gun. Most AR enthusiasts today have no idea what a sear block is, and therefore it’s meaningless to them. I haven’t watched Colt AR prices closely for years, but if it were me, I’d see what similar guns are “bringing” (not asking prices) on Gunbroker, GunsAmerica, and GunsInternational.
If I were to take a shot in the dark guess, I’d say a Colt AR enthusiasts might pay in the $1500-2000 range.

Your right. Most will not know what that is.
I’m the last 10 years they sold between $1300-$1800 on those sites. I was thinking around $2000 give or take. Thank you.

I think you might get that for it if you can get in front of the right person. It might be worth carrying it around the Wannemacher show in April.

One sold on GB last month for $1550 with a penny start. I'd say that's a pretty good indicator of value. It had a sear block and was in nearly mint condition. No box but some original accessories.

There's another that's listed on GB now in the mid $2k price range. Looks like it's been relisted a few times.

Colt started putting sear blocks in their lowers in 89. That's also about the time they started removing the bayo lugs. You have a pretty desirable rifle since it's a pre-AWB receiver. People in some states will pay a premium because those are the only ARs they can buy.

I have a R6550 model in mint condition and I can't believe how much they sell for...when you can find one.

Oh...

And if you decide to sell it for $700 like @yukonjack suggested don't bother going thru the trouble of placing an ad on the forum...just PM me. I'm ready to do my part for the OSA gun community and take it off your hands for that.
