Thanks for the offer. I have also joined the Aeronautical Center Radio club. The folks there seem to be really helpful. I have a hand held and will be putting up a base VHF/UHF antenna next. A base/mobile stations and a HF antenna will be later.

Although I would LOVE to take this class, $225 is a lot of money...
Its all about priorities.
He had to postpone the October class due to a personal matter. The April date is the re-schedule date.

Green Country Hamfest is this weekend, March 13-14, at the Claremore Expo Center. There will be multiple door prizes, several license testing sessions, open seminars, lots of vendors. Doors open Friday evening at 5pm - 9pm, Saturday 8am - 3pm.
I'm new at this so here goes. Good information.
Interesting observation, I went to a fireworks display today in an area that is usually fairly sparsely populated (cell company has not built up capacity). During the fireworks display, this area was very heavily populated. My cell phone's voice calls did not work, my wireless internet connection did not work, my SMS messages only worked sporadically. There are still occasions when a ham radio could be very valuable for making emergency contacts.
