Congratulations, now find a local club and get with it. If you need any help, I live in Mustang. I have not been licensed very long, but do have my General. There are some reports that the FCC was having computer problems that were delaying Call Signs. The ARRL site might have some more information on this.

I would be more than happy to assist you if you are near the okc metro! I have 2 uv5rs myself but use them for basic frs/gmrs (channel 1-22) and murs operations because I'm not licensed either. They can operate on 2m and 70cm but they are very limited by their power. The fm feature of these radios are a godsend! Lol they are quite a pain to program even with the software in most cases and the manuals aren't exactly the most helpful lol.

I am not ham licensed but I am very proud of the equipment I have accumulated. I have 2 baofeng uv5rs one of which I received as a gift. From that point I was SOLD! Bought one for my wife because even she could see the value! For years I've been interested in communications, starting with cb. I have a cobra 29lx LCD in the truck that I had to have because of the LCD screen! I also have 3 scanners for monitoring public safety and general "whatever I want" frequencies (1 mobile, 2 handheld). I have a RadioShack pro-95 that my dad bought me years ago. A RadioShack Pro-668 that I bought when they were going out of business for less than half price. My favorite of them all is my RadioShack pro-163 base/mobile scanner that my wife found at an estate sale for a whopping total of 75ยข. Man, I love her lol
