Why are you thinking a S&W will be over $2K next year? What are they selling for now?
Don't they all come with the "locking" hole now? - not a big fan of that.
All the old pre lock Smith's are getting higher on a daily basis seems to me. A thousand bucks or close to it is the new norm for any nice one. Some of the more rare models are $1500 and up.

Yep...all "older" Smiths are going up. I wish I hadn't put off another 29-2 purchase. I like the craftsmanship, but $2K+ for another mint one with box isn't going to happen for me.

S&W revolvers of 30 - 70 years ago have shot up 25 - 35% in the last 18 months.

6 in ruger redhawk will probably out last any other but won't hold the value of a colt.
Agreed. I am a big Ruger fan myself. Have the a Redhawk (5.5 bbl) in 44 mag and a GP100 in 357 mag. I’ll never sell them and do shot them from time to time. I am just looking for something different that will hold its value.
That said - I have noticed that Ruger revolver values have been on the rise lately as well.

The three screw Blackhawks and Single Sixes are starting to take off finally (unfortunately as I need a 30 Carbine to complete my collection). You are right about the DA revolvers going up too, but short of a limited run of something collectable will never increase with the S&W or Colt.

I love the quote used in every Ruger revolver review..."They're built like tanks...look how beefy..." No kidding Chet...everything is cast including the frame. It has to be larger😄.

That's not a crack on Ruger. They've figured out how to make a robust revolver. Heck some of the hotter 45 Colt loads will say "Blackhawk or Freedom Arms only" in the manuals. Mostly my point is just to point out that a cheaper production process will not maintain/increase in value as well as a more expensive one.

I know someone is about to fire up their keyboard in order to flame me for hating on Ruger revolvers. I don't, I own seven of them.
