Contender 30-30 Barrel

Well boys and girls just received word that this 14” 30-30 Contender barrel is on its way and should be here in a few days. Will be a nice addition to the others I’ve been fortunate to have. If any of ya’ll have any load data you’ve been successful with and could share I’d appreciate a point in the right direction. Right now I have a 173 grain cast load worked up using Re7 that’s a tac driver in my ‘94 but that being good in a Contender is a pipe dream but we’ll see. Here’s a picture of the barrel and the little collection I have going for your viewing pleasure.

Clockwise starting at 12:00 a 14” 44 Mag, 22LR Match, 357 Maximum and at 9:00 is a 222 Remington which is a sub MOA pistol. Wish I could remember who here on OSA was selling the 357 Max brass.

I always wanted a max, now days though I would like one is a 336 marlin action!

I believe Sierra used to have Contender specific load data in their manuals. You might try there.

So does Hornady. I am going to try some 150 SSTs in mine

I have the Hornady manual and yes it does have a Contender section although no 357 Max info.
