It’s kind of funny, long story short my wife (Linda) and I moved to Lake Lawtonka, Oklahoma about 21/2 years ago from Yorba Linda, CA and found a wonderful little country church, Paradise Valley Baptist. Didn’t take long to figure out all these folks have grown up together and I’m sure like everyone they have their default recipes for the potlucks. Being new I’m breaking out all my family recipes and they’re loving it. Won the Annual Chili cook-off with my great-grandmother’s recipe and one of our deacons won’t let me live it down. This upside-down cake was my Great-great-grandmother’s sister’s (Aunt Goldie) recipe. I even have the cast iron skillet she used. Can’t thank Oklahoma enough for the warm welcome we’ve received. My Mom’s father was from Allen, OK and Dad’s mom was from Childress, TX so in a way I’m returning home. 😉
