CRKT are good "user" knives. Those that you aren't afraid to actually use. So are SOG and a lot of Kershaw. The nice thing about Kershaw is you can spend a little more and get better quality if you want and still carry and use it hard.
My EDC cost $29 on Amazon when I bought it. Luv the thing.
If you want to try CRKT knives at a cheap price, keep an eye on Woot.com. They had some CRKT fixed blades a couple of days ago, which means they'll likely show up again on their Clearance pace before too long. One of the deals was a 3-knife set for (IIRC) under $30.
CRKT knives are mainly made in China, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. I have several CRKTs and they work as advertised.
Recently I bought a Benchmade Contego 810 Tactical Knives and I'm happy with the quality.
