Just took the 512 Carbine to the woods for the first time today. Had a nice #40 male coyote pop out at about 35 yards, and dropped him in his tracks with the first shot. The 512/CCI HP-V combo worked like a dream. Really glad I bought this little rifle, and thanks to the OP for pushing me in this direction.

You're welcome my friend.

And congrats on your successful maiden hunt. :clap3:

I've been to the range with Kristina two more times since I got her,,,
The dang thing just makes me giggle when I fire it.

I let a friends 11 year old son send 50 rounds downrange,,,
Now my friend is all upset and angry with me,,,
His son "wants" one for his birthday.

BTW, I almost always pair a handgun with my rifles,,,
I have a S&W 22A-1 that is a perfect aesthetic match for the carbine.

They are both black and dark gray in finish,,,
And look very nice together in their case.

I like to go with rifle/pistol pairs as well. Right now I'm leaning towards a PMR 30, but I need to do some more research. The 512 seems to prefer lighter rounds like the CCI HP-V, and I want to make sure that the PMR will run that ammo. If Ruger would release a LCRx with a 3" barrel, I'd jump on that.

The PMR 30 is tempting, but I have a Ruger Single Six. Have you considered the Rock Island 22 Magnum 1911?

I'm not sure how, but now I'm looking at a S&W Model 10 snubby. I have a crap load of .38 wad cutters and nothing to run them through since I gave my dad my model 19. Tomorrow I'll probably be back to looking at the PMR.

Dang.

Matching a .22 mag carbine with a pistol is not easy,,,
There just isn't that big of a selection out there.

The PMR 30 was the first that came to mind,,,
But the carbine is a lovely little rifle,,,
And the PMR 30 is plain butt-ugly.

Someone needs to design a small cap for that fugly rail under the barrel,,,
The barrel needs some extra thickness to offset the thick grip.

Is there even another .22 Mag semi-auto pistol?

I know of a few revolvers but my knowledge of pistols stops there.

AMT Automag was the last to make a Semi-auto .22 mag that I remember. I have one of the 4" barrel models.
They never could get it to run consistently. The recoil impulse started the action too quickly resulting in timing issues.
They went so far as to put a tiny bit of stippling in the chamber to "hold" the round in the chamber for a microsecond or two longer which helped most of the issues, but it was still never reliable.
I use mine for plinking and flame throwing. LOL.
Speer came out with some .22 mag ammo for short barreled pistols using gold dot bullets. I bought a couple of boxes of it to try, but it appears all it was was lighter/softer bullets to expand at the lower velocities when fired out of a pistol.

The Rock Island XT 22 looks interesting, but it's even more scarce than the PMR 30. I may try to find a High Standard Mark IV revolver...
The High Standard would be nice to have. My first revolver was the High Standard 9 shot 22 "The Marshall."

I have the RIA XT 22 in 22LR. Shot it last Wednesday for the first time in a long time. Good shooter but would like to replace the sights.
