I used to be strictly a hammer fired, all steel pistol guy. A few years back I transitioned over to Glocks, and I still appreciate them, but no matter how you trick them out they still feel like a chunk of plastic. I started looking to replace my EDC (a G26), and settled on the CZ P-01 Omega convertible. The P-01 is roughly the size of a G19, and in fact I purchased two leather pancake holsters made for the G19 which fit the P-01 like a glove. The "convertible" means that the safety can be easily swapped for a decocker, which is how I have mine set up. I've heard good and bad things about the Omega trigger, and I ended up with a bad one. The DA pull was close to 20# and the SA, although fairly light, was gritty and had three separate hitches before finally breaking. I had already decided to install the CGW Omega kit before purchasing the pistol so this didn't bother me, but I was very curious to see how much improvement I'd see from the cajunization. All I can say is "wow". Now the DA is a buttery 7.75# and SA is a crisp 3.75#, and the pistol is a joy to shoot. The kit was surprisingly easy to install, and the only tool you really need is a screwdriver to remove the grip panels. I had a small timing issue, but David from CGW was very helpful and I was able to resolve it fairly easily. I'm keeping my Glocks and the G17 will stay on the nightstand for the time being, but the CZ will be on my hip and at the range. A year from now I wouldn't be surprised if a SP-01 is my new nightstand gun.
