Dang... I'm Racking Up The Miles On My Truck.

2017 F-250. Just turned over 30,000 miles on the way back from Olustee on Friday. I had just a shade over 11,000 on it a year and a half ago. Then I met a woman. We all know what that means...



When we met April 1st of 2021 I had about 13,000 miles on my 2018 Cruze. It's pushing 40,000 now. She had a 2018 Subaru with about 95,000. That woman drives a lot.

It's time we had the talk about how we can't afford a new car and these need to last a LONG time. Oh, wait...we already had that talk. Then she drove down to TX to visit the kids.

Get a Prius. Or an old school Beetle...28MPG and you can do 90% of the work on it with about 15 tools.

Met my wife in 2010. I lived in central Kansas, she Edmond. 125k on my Sport Trac when I met her. When I finally moved in with her a few years later, I had just over 250k on it. Every weekend round trips added up fast.

I bought one of the last of the 7.3L F-250s new in 2002. Traded it in 2012 (BIG mistake) with only 51,000 miles on it. I'd sure like to have that truck back.

I have a daughter that lives in Colorado. My parents and sister live in Florida. Bought the wifes car brand new last year. Had it 14 months and it has 35,000 miles on it. That also includes her trips to Houston for MD Anderson.

If used cars weren’t stupid expensive now I’d say buy something like a used Toyota Carola with less than 50K/Miles for around $8,000. Those things will go 250,000 miles easily with care and get close to 40mpg on the highway. Not anymore.
