I was hunting on the ground close to my feeder, about 10 yards, this evening when about 10 hawgs should up for a snack. I picked out the biggest one and I was pulling the trigger on my crossbow when the feeder went off. The hawgs scattered in every direction! It was funny. One almost ran into my lap. About 45 minutes later, a herd of 16 showed up. I was going to give it a go with my Walther 9mm and it misfired so I pulled up my crossbow and picked the biggest one out and let it fly. It hit the big hawg and it went running off squealing and the others left the scene in different directions. I'm sitting on the ground with a metal rock, since the pistol misfired, and began to hear four hawgs making a growling sound close by. It's getting dark and I got to walk out with angry pigs all around. It was not a good feeling.

Were you not able to clear the malfunction and test fire?

I live in hog country as well, I carry a .44 Mag on my hip for situations just like that. Glad you made it out unscathed.

I also live in an area with an active pig population, and I carry a 1911 45acp any time I’m out.

I’ve been told that that a 45 ain’t enough for pigs, but it is.:hey3:

If the weapon misfires, usually clearing it helps. I may be missing something.

    - Yeah; this. ?

    - What model of Walther is this?

    - I've heard that before somewhere; it very well may be true...

I cleared the round and the Walther P99 left a slight indentation on the primer. It has always been reliable and it's not my everyday carry. I should have tested it before I left but I just wanted to get out of there asap. For a 64 year old, it was a rush and a oh snit at the same time! The sight of 16 hawgs with tusk that close up will give you a rush!
