OK, makes sense from that perspective.

But this is what he gets just for going somewhere to talk

Ok. So what? If he can get it, good for him. Many speakers make that much and more, including politicians. It’s not evil to request a speaking fee for your knowledge and service.

Any idea how much it costs to book a band? Hint for a 80-90’s band, under $400k:

Exactly. This is a country that advertises one can sell their services for money. He runs a business, and that is what he does. BUT! He does give a lot of it away for free.

Dave Ramsey is paid like a number of podcast or radio folks. No harm no foul, but he doesn't do it for free lol. Sure it's "free" to the end user but it has to be. Nobody would pay good money for what is mostly basic financial advice and mediocre (at best) investment advice.

The irony is that the lawsuit contends he wasn't transparent of his affiliation with a company that directly reflected his "advice." In which that lawsuit is not an ambulance chasing scenario or whatever that is...... it's a commonly addressed and considered aspect of going on media and giving advice or opinions on financial advice or investments. He should be up front an honest about his biases.

Of course, it's free for the end user on pod casts. He gets paid by advertisers. That's the point, or one can pay to sit in an auditorium and listen to the same thing while he is getting paid by the audience.
His mantra is not different in either platform.

It seems you didn't watch the video.
I watched the video, and this lawsuit is horseshit. I listened to his show when he was doing ads (literally--they were ad spots) for Time Share Exit Team. It shouldn't have come as a surprise to anyone that he was getting paid for ADS. That's kind of how advertising works.

So what y’all are saying is he doesn’t help people for free then. He gets paid for every single thing he does and if you listen to his radio show or a podcast or some other media where he’s doing his prosperity gospel like stuff, then that’s free. But he’s not doing anything for free.

Hopefully he makes it through this lawsuit intact or all his products will double in price and you might have to pay for a subscription to one of his podcasts. He might even have to declare bankruptcy or get a CC

and that's the missing piece that the individual in the video said he didn't know because he didn't watch the show.

However, they're also alleging that Ramsey was promoting this company even after things were going south with this scam company....

"Instead of acknowledging the deception, Ramsey recorded a nine-minute radio segment in which he lashed out at anyone he felt to be responsible for Reed Hein's woes," the lawsuit stated. Those parties included timeshare companies and the Washington State attorney general.

All Ramsey had to do to avoid losing this kind of suit was to say he was being paid by the company he was recommending and promoting.

YouTube requires “Paid Promotion” to be shown somewhere in the frame of videos shown on that site. When I see that, I usually quit watching the channel.

Most desperate people are gullible and will react based on emotion and not logic. Once some logic sets in these folks have buyers remorse. These time share companies know that and have written language in the time share contract to keep people from backing out. And DR was promoting a product to desperate people. Whether he told them he was getting paid for that promotion probably wouldn’t have made a difference to those desperate folks.

A lot (not all) of DR followers are desperate and I bet if there is a way for them to get some money, they will jump on the bandwagon to sue anyone they can to recover money they shouldn’t have spent. Spending that money was due to their own lack of due diligence, but who cares about accountability anymore?!?
