Just ordered a little GSG 522SD rifle, and wondered what would be a reasonably priced, good plinking/ pesticide optic for it. I've never messed with the clone rifles or the knockoff sights that would be appropriate for them. My kids love the .22s and can burn bricks of ammo into scrap in no time at all. Red dot, reflex, low power scope??

I'll add the better GSG claw rail when it arrives. Apparently the stock rail is flimsy plastic.

I use a Bushnell Red/Green dot on mine. I think they retail these days for about $80 and are pretty good sights with several options. But, on a .22 you can go with some pretty cheap ones (NCStar) and you'll be alright. Just check the brightness and visibility of the dot before you buy.
