Hey y'all,

I'd like to check out the Cooper WMA for deer gun this year. It's only open the first 9 days. I am curious if anybody has had any success there or has any advice. This will be my first deer gun season that I am not hunting on private land so would appreciate any insight.

I haven't been there before so hoping to stop by in the next couple weeks and scout for half a day or so while on a road trip.

Unfortunately prepare for possible other hunters spoiling your trip. Hope not, but my last few trips to public land I’ve experienced too many unseasoned hunters. They loose patients and get up and walk/talk around. Pretty much spook everything.

Maybe if you can find a corner where they’re not already piled up.

I hunted Cooper three or four times in years past. It's probably been fifteen years or so since I was last there. Two of us hunted it and neither of us ever fired a shot. Saw quite a bit of sign in places, but no deer.
