Went to the range today to avoid the crowds later in the week for sighting in my rifle.
It’s my new .243 WSSM IN 1:12,twist for light bullets. Bullet is a Nosler 55 grain ballistic tip boat tail. Velocity was 4079 fps.

First cold bore shot at 100 yds was an inch high and 1/4” right. Adjusted the scope for height and left the rifle to cool down.
Ballistic tables said the drop at 300 yds was 3.3”, so moved to the 300 yard bay and took another cold bore shot aiming 3” high. Pretty happy with the results. Let it cool down again and matched the first shot, so I’m ready.

Man, I’m really wanting to build a 243 wssm. Your not talking me out of it! Is brass easier to find than it used to be
Yeah, it's easy right now. Winchester made a run of brass this year. Prices are normal. A couple of years ago that wasn't the case. Brass prices were insane. I'd say if you want to build, do it now and stock up on a lifetime supply of brass. I lost two in the snow, and spent 30 minutes looking for them before sitting up a brass deflector.

I've got 300 rounds of brass, and just ordered another 150.

I have to ask. Isn't that bullet really an inappropriate one to use for deer? I can see coyotes, but not a varmint bullet for deer. Or am I wrong?
At that velocity, the deer's innards will be pure jelly. I'll take a pic when I get one. Speed kills.

Some reviews on that bullet here.

I am using a 55gr VMax in .223 on Hogs and deer and other critters.
It is devastating..those little pills get the job done .
My buddy said he did not like the damage the 55gr did to all the deer he shot. He lost 2 shoulders because of that little thing.. but never lost a deer with them.

I told him shoot in a different spot. Stupid things are accurate.
If I had a .243WSSM I would sure give the 55gr a try
