I’d say a sheet of fireproof sheetrock and some cheap outdoor carpet and it would be good for the garage. I’ve got some old milsurps and we’ll loved hunting guns that could find a home there.

Judging by the interior damage, rust, and how it was stored I probably wouldn’t trust it to be safe for firearm storage until it was completely gutted.

I’ve considered the same, but between the wife acceptance factor, our storage needs, and the lack of fire resistance I think I’m better off just buying a cheap safe. There is a smaller bear safe for sale on Facebook for 1200 right now…

Unfortunately it's just about like that. Real security and fire protection is expensive.

Bear safe. The are a lot more than what I paid, but I doub5 they are 5k. Don’t worry, some 5k + safes aren’t worth it either. the steel (thickness) and lock matter. Steel flat out costs money.
