I just finished my fourth round of casting, and I must say that I am quite impressed with the way these slugs are turning out.

Depending on which "pin" is used, slugs can be cast in various weights:

1 oz.

1 1/6 oz.

1 3/16 oz.

1 1/4 oz.

Accuracy has also been quite impressive!

I have had to borrow several shotguns, just to have a wider base of guns for accuracy testing, with the following results -

All guns were shot at 50 yards, and 2 were shot at 100 yards.

3-shot groups.

Remington 870 with cantilever slug barrel: 1 1/2" group @ 50 yards.

Ithaca M37 Deer Slayer: 1" group @ 50 yards.

Remington 1100 with a 26" improved cylinder barrel: 2" group @ 50 yards.

Benelli Super Nova with 28" barrel and improved cylinder choke tube: 1 7/8" group @ 50 yards.

Remington 870 with a 30" barrel and improved cylinder choke tube: 1 3/4" @ 50 yards.

Stoeger Stagecoach: 4" @ 50 yards.

Ithaca M37 Deer Slayer: 2 3/4" @ 100 yards.

Velocity of loads are:

1,000 fps..

1,200 fps..

1,400 fps..

1,600 fps..

I have been doing all testing with the Federal Gold Medal hull, but every hull tried crimps great!

Powders that I load are:

Red Dot

Herco

Longshot

Blue Dot

So far, the only primer I have used is the Winchester 209. Other primers will be tested, but most likely after deer season closes.

I was just looking at those the other day, some Russian company makes that mold, right?
Are they full bore slugs?

These slug molds are indeed made in Russia.

No, they are not full bore diameter. Their carrier is a shot cup.

I am very anxious to try these slugs in my 870 barrel, but I am still waiting on my rifled choke tube.

Taofledermaus has tested the diabolo projectiles several times on his YouTube channel, including ones made of different materials--he even had a viewer send in diabolo projectiles made of candy. He and the other guys in his videos like the diabolo shape a lot.

My wife came in with the mail this evening, and my extended rifled choke tube came in.

Now, I'm going to put a Red Dot on my 870, and if I can get to the range tomorrow, I'm going see how well my Paradox barrel shoots these Pellet Slugs. Really looking forward to it.

ADDENDUM:

Overall choke tube length is 8", with the rifled portion of the tube being 6".

Right hand rifling with a 1-34" twist.
