Different sizes (diameter) of RCBS shellholders

I ‘think’ I have some of those larger diameter shell holders. Never really thought about it as long as the numbers jived. I get the curiosity though, why bigger the diameter?

Because the case rim is bigger. this photo I think is confusing people

The size of the rim of the case has nothing to do with the size of the top of the shell holder. All standard RCBS shell holders are the same size in height and diameter of the top. The only difference is the cut out for different calibers. Check some of your shell holders. The one that I have in question is not a standard RCBS shellholder.

I would say different years of manufacture for a different size ram, ie get you to buy a "New "press with a stronger 1 1/4" ram than your "old " 1"
