IIRC the dillos are the only critters on the face of the earth that have both a hard shell and hair or fur. Strange little critters

I didn’t stop for a picture, but I accidentally hit a diller with my skid steer mower yesterday.

29 dillers were bopped today. We took 2 22lrs, a 22-250, 9mm handgun, 32h&r mag handgun and for the first time ever I got a wild idea to take my 20ga o/u. I just had some 2-3/4 7 1/2 shells but it did the trick on the one diller I tried it on. I gave him both barrels before he could blink. A buddy of mine managed to perform a c-section on a bred female with the 22-250. We rode around on the side by side for about 4hrs. It was a beautiful day to be out roaming unless you were an armadillo.

We will be home tomorrow after 2.5 months in Arizona.
Our house sitter says the dillers have destroyed the lawn.
He shot two, but more take their place as soon as the gore gets cleaned up by some critter.

Last year I caught over 8 of the darn things in traps. I live in a subdivision and some of the neighbors might frown on a 22 going off. They were ripping everyone’s lawns to pieces. Not only did I catch the dillers but 3 skunks, 2 raccoons and Milo the neighbor’s orange cat. I sure hope they don’t come back this year but if they do I’m ready with a new plan.
