So the wife got tired of mowing around the roofrack in the back yard, so I got creative. I figured the reason I didnt like it on the jeep durring mock up was that it sat WAY to high. So I flipped it around, instead of bolting it on top of my cross bars I U-bolted them to the bottom with grade 8 U-bolts. It is as good as I can hope for shy of spending 800$+ for a rack thats manufactured for the arched roof of the ZJ. It now sites nearly 5 inches lower, and clears the roof by about 1/2 inch. I have 4 ubolts currently and did not budge with me yanking and jerking hard for a couple minutes on each end, but I am adding more for redundancy. I wish I could find 3X3 Ubolts, but all I found were 3X4. This is the start of my weekend project, More to hopefully come!

So next part of weekend project is done! I relocated the light pod mounts from apoc industries to the front to make the front attach point for some limb risers. Flipping them around and using some eye bolts made the front easy work. I got a 25 foot heavy duty dog cable on sale thats already got 2 heavy duty swivel clips. I measured and cut the cable to length and used a thimble and saddle clamps to make new loops. I still need to trim it up a bit and shink the shrink wrap for a clean look. I used turn buckles to be able to tighted and loosen as needed for attach/detach. Then using some non load bearing carabiners I had laying around on the back of the rack for storage when not in use. I still have about 13 feet of useable cable I am going to repurpose with more thimble, saddle clamps, and shrink tube. The big weak point on this is that I am using conduit hangers on the rack to support the cable. I would like to find a P-clamp thats 1 1/4 to swap them out with, but it will work for now. 1-2 more projects to go this weekend stay tuned.

Last update for now... not much just hung some lights with conduit hangers. Will be looking to wire them up after a several hours of youtube and watching how to wire them all in a row to a single switch.
