Just to add to the under worked, adequately paid teacher discussion -- Waste? It probably exist in some districts but I know of administrators that clean restrooms and wash dishes in the cafeteria to save money. The accounting for the money spent is very strictly audited and requires very strict rules. Also, Oklahoma has reduced funding to public education by $1 Billion dollars over the last decade. Oklahoma subsidizes tuition for education majors from Texas attending OK universities. They pay in state tuition then return to Texas to work. I know this because I've supervised several of them and filled out several reference checks from Texas schools over the last 6 years including several in the last couple of days. Here's a little reading if you would like to be better informed http://www.governing.com/topics/education/gov-oklahoma-states-education-funding.html
