I just moved in to a new place and it doesn't feel like home just yet. I'm trying to get used to all the new house noises and surroundings and feel comfortable here. Well I'm laying in bed last night and wake up to a loud noise, I couldn't tell were it came from and didn't hear anything else once I was awake, but the hairs on my neck were standing up and I had a feeling that someone was in my house. I live alone so there shouldn't be any noises inside my house. I grab my HD 870 (bedside) and clear the house, I found nothing knocked over and nobody in the house, but I couldn't go back to sleep after that. I normally sleep with my bedroom door open, but before I got back in bed I closed it and locked it. It just felt safer and I wanted one last line of defense or noise to give me that extra split second in case I needed it. It also gave me a better piece of mind. Which got me to thinking I wonder how many people close their bedroom door at night or even lock it for the same reasons. I would at least like to hear the door rattle or hear it being kicked in compared to someone standing over the top of me while I sleep or killing me in my sleep. Or getting the jump on me and leaving me defenseless while they rob me and my house. Downside is by closing your door you can't hear other noises as well throughout the house if someone was to break in through a window or door. I know I'm just paranoid right now because of last night, but I may shut and lock my bedroom door every night. Thoughts? Advice?
