Do your big-box stores treat you like a baby?

Bought a shotgun at a Texas BPS. Filled out the 4473 and the guy asked if I had any other shopping to do. I said yes and he put the shotgun box in my cart and told me enjoy my visit. Wife and I walked around for about an hour and a half with the gun in the cart basket and shells for it in the little seat basket. I was surprised they let me do that.

Yea, personally I don't enjoy the baby escort situation these stores employ. And I used to work at Cabela's... So I just stick to my local mom and pop stores where I am treated like an adult and can freely browse and purchase at my leisure without all the "red tape". I do admit some of those box stores can have some killer deals... But I have to stick to my principles.

Here is my thing: When I first started pricing firearms a few years ago I found that Academy had the best prices for the most part on handguns. With the exception of my EC9s (SCI) and my Taurus PT840 (at a gun show) I've bought all my handguns at Academy. When I bought my first Beretta PX4 Academy not only had the lowest price in town (anywhere from $50 to $120 lower) they also price matched an online price. So while the same pistol was being sold for $460 to $520 elsewhere in Tulsa I got if for $380. Yes, they carried it up to the register, and didn't hand it to me til I was a footstep away from the door. But you know what? Its not that big of deal. Its like all these people that throw a fit when having to show their receipt at the door of wal-mart. I shop at Sams and Costco, where you are required to do so. Why? Because I can get stuff at better pricing or in bulk quantities. If I could find an LGS that would price-match Academy's prices, I might shop there. Until then, I will shop where I can get the best price.

I can always respect that outlook, and I could have saved good money but I have shopped at my mom and pop store for a while now and have developed a good reputation that I can now receive close to or better prices than big boxes just due to being a regular, and a friend now.
