You can make the hub hole larger it does not need to center up on the hub.
The lug nut studs and nuts will center the rims.
I have had to cut the center hole larger on many rims and never any issues.
If you have 5 on 5.5 the older Ford and Jeep had that bolt pattern also.

That is definitely an option, I kind of prefer hub centric wheels over lug centric wheels though. I doubt I would worry about it much on a farm truck though.

I gave my 2018 OE wheels RAM wheels to my dad for his 05 RAM and they fit fine. Offset is a little higher on the new wheels , but they will work . Just make sure its the CLASSIC 5 lug body and not the new body.

Center bore on old ram is 77.8 with an OE offset of about +6
Center bore on NEW RAM 77.8 and an offset of 20 mm

Someone mentioned hub vs lug centric the 98 is lug centric

"2019 through current year model Dodge Ram 1500 Trucks have a 6x139. 7 bolt pattern. These changed from the 5 lug in 2018 and older trucks. These wheels ONLY fit 2019 and newer Dodge Ram 1500."
Ram has been making "classic" Or as I call them "leftover Parts" truck up until 2021. They are still 5 x139.7

I kind of prefer hub centric wheels over lug centric wheels though.

My cragars and centerline and Weld racing and my factory ford wheels never centered tight on the hub.
There was always a little extra clearance.
I have never had any issues with it.
I can't say i drive as fast as some new cars but I have ran those above except the centerlines to a tick over 175 MPH on Oklahoma roads.
Yea 1960's steel Ford wheels.
Ran 167 MPH on a wheel dyno with steel wheels with lugs centering them 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern.
Good year wrangler mud and snow tires :)

Non issue.
Especially under 100 mph
