1. Some IDPA clubs allow using a .22 rimfire at club matches "just for fun." All safety rules still apply.
2. .22 rimfire is not a legal caliber in any IDPA division, thus you cannot "Demand" that you be allowed to shoot it in a match.
3. Steel Challenge (a USPSA affiliate) has .22 rimfire divisions.

A number of IDPA clubs nationwide now allow (likely until the end of the Great Ammo Shortage) .22LR. This is for club level Tier I matches only. By far the most commonly used caliber in IDPA is 9mm Luger. In Steel Challenge currently it's .22LR. SC has numerous divisions in which most centerfire straightwall pistol calibers may be used.

Ammo is progressively becoming more available, abet at higher prices than before the GAS. At least copper commodity prices have now frozen after rising some 38% since start of 2021. Rise in lead prices has stalled too.
