Dove Nests

I used to have Killdeer nest on the edge of my gravel drive. They did the same wounded wind thing to draw me away from the nest but I did my best to not disturb them untill they fledged and were gone.

We have a killdee nest in our gravel road annually. One down there right now.
We always put a traffic cone near it so the mail lady or pumper won’t drive over it.

Those things put on quite a show to lead away from the nests. Their instinct about location isn't great, always seem to locate in or by gravel roads.
