Dove season 2017 hunting results and stories

I built a couple of decoy stands today.
First goes on a 10' top rail chain link that will put it up 15' and the second built for a buddy that will mount to a Tpost at 8'.
Looking forward to the start of hunting season official opener.

My buddy couldn't get his Vinci back together right so we were late to the field, almost 7:30. Birds were flying pretty good but coming in to the field to close to the road to setup on them. They stopped flying not to long after we got in but managed 8 between us and should have had more. We thought this field might be a bust but tried it anyway because it's so close to the house. We were surprised so going back out this afternoon.

I can't believe it's already dove season!

Good job guys.

I haven't gone dove hunting in about twenty years. It used to be one of my favorite things.

Saw 4 dove today and when I did get a shot, I forgot I bought a semi-automatic shotgun this year, so I tried to pump the action after my first shot causing quite the pause and giving the dove a sporting chance at escape. I laughed out loud at myself.

I had a hawk almost take out a decoy, which was pretty cool to see, then I had 3 hen turkey land 30 yards from me. Overall a good morning and I got to fill the feeder / check cameras.

Took the kids this evening. The boy shot his first bird, and sister knocked down ten, and a buddies Drahtar in training lol. Beautiful evening.
