Based on the recommendations of a few OSAers as well as "real world" friends, I decided to try some Eagle Rare bourbon this weekend and I am glad I did. Finally, I have found a bourbon that is worthy to occupy my "top shelf" along with Woodford Reserve.

Blanton's yes....I was unimpressed. I'm not trying to hate on anyone's favorite but in my mind it didn't come anywhere near living up to the hype.

Booker's no....it's still on my must try list.

No offense taken on the Blanton's - I like it but have similar feelings for Woodford that you do for Blanton's :) . The Booker's is worth a try though it's $$$$ by Bouron standards (Scotch drinkers are laughing at that).

Truth be told, my favorite lately is probably Bulleit.

I don't mind spending a little $ on a good bottle of bourbon for a couple of reasons:

1. Like you mentioned, bourbon is inexpensive compared to some other liquors.
2. I don't drink enough for it to be truly expensive. Usually, a bottle lasts me several months.

That being said, I've found that an awesome bourbon for the price is Elijah Craig.
