Wife and I have a tendency to answer an unknown number with, "this is Terry" instead of answering with a "hello." Some automated systems trigger off of the "hello" and begin their spiel then. If an actual human calls, they usually know us anyway.

Otherwise, most calls go unanswered, especially so if it includes the same first three digits of our phone number.

Tell 'em that you now 'identify as a Nigerian Prince'. Standard protocol for Princes is that we send you a check for $10,000. You take the amount for the warranty and maybe an extra $200 for your your troubles. You then send the remaining cash back to me. Everybody is happy!!

I get at least two or three of these bogus auto warranty calls per day...anybody else torqued that they seemingly can't be stopped?

What is weird is that when I leave the state the numbers they call from originate from the state I am in when I cross a timezone.

I dont get them from Oklahoma anymore....

I got back from a trip to the car wash yesterday.
Wife asked me why I didn’t answer the four calls she made to me while gone.
Her phone rang once, then a voice came on saying I was busy and couldn’t answer the phone.
Looked in the recent call list with no record of her calling.
Looked at notifications and saw 4 calls that were labeled spam.
How her calls were deemed spam is unknown. Went to the AT&T app, unblocked her but still couldn’t get a call.
After rebooting my phone, all was good.

I get so many warranty calls on my home phone.
And other bogus calls.
Makes me want to cancel my home phone.
One day i will shut the darn thing off and if you want me then send me mail. Or come on over
