I have an 1995 F350 with 280,000 miles. The tranny has started whining; best way to describe it is that it sounds very much like a power-steering pump under load.

Anybody know what that means? Is this the death rattle or is it a cheap fix? Should I start lookin for a new truck? The tranny was last serviced (flush, filter change) about 2 years ago. Probably won't put a transmission in it; the truck has enough other issues that it may be time to scrap 'er. It's my daily driver so I'm wonderin if I should trust it or not.

Thanks for any input...

Somewhere out here!
If the provision(aka dip stick) is there, definitely check the fluid. With that many miles it might have a slow leak, or may be burning some of it off, though that isn't very likely. It may just be low on fluid.
