I've mentioned several times that at the onset of falsebook, I signed up and after a short period of watching the greatest stupidity on display in my life, canceled my subscription.
It kept coming back, so I posted some of the worst porn you've ever seen and the mods deleted it for me.
5 or so years later, it came back again with a list of hundreds that want to be my friend from all over the world that I don't have a clue who they are.
Then this. I rest my case.....

Says you have to log in to see the material. NO THANK YOU!!!

I too tried FB some years ago at the behest of a now former gf, and had a dickens of a time deleting the account after seeing just how inane some/most of the postings were. The account’s persistent prying into my personal life was quite off-putting, too. But attempting to shed myself of FB was worse than trying to flick a doggy eye goober off my finger.

Just couldn’t do it. Every time I deleted the account (“This action cannot be undone. Are you sure you want to do this? Really? Don’t want to change your mind? Want to think it over?”) I kept getting an email saying my account was ready and I could log in any time I wanted. I finally got it to GO away for good, but man, it was an agonizingly frustrating process.

They do have some good and useful content now, as my sweetheart keeps showing me, but no way, no how will I go back.

I went down that sem rabbit hole. If you deactivate your account and click you don't want to receive any further emails or notifications, the harassment will end.

I've been using it for close to 10 years. It's a great way to keep up with family and friends, especially when I was travelling a lot for work. The hardest part is locking down your security preferences. Once you do that, it's pretty effortless and non-intrusive. You can make yourself not-searchable and only share/see what you want to see with/from who you want.

What does this have to do with Handguns though? LOL.

Like most everything else on the planet it is what you make of it. I can keep up with friends, am a member of several homesteading, gardening and hobby groups that are completely drama-free -- unlike the 3 forums I am active on.

I have learned so much from people in those groups it is not even funny. And formed some pretty good friendships, just like I have on the forums I'm on. Sure I get advertising material. Huh. Just like 2 of the 3 forums I am active on. Imagine that.

I swear some of you guys get your panties up your ass over the strangest things. (Not that I haven't been guilty of the same thing from time to time but dang, guys. I at least make SOME effort to keep my nose.)

I did facebook a long time ago to keep up with some old Frat bros but it got to be a hassle. Friends request and annoying "we miss you" bots from fb, etc. I deactivated my account (because you can never delete it) and added no notifications or contact.
I'm free.
Wife does it and that's enough to get the local gossip.

I deactivated my account. The FIL got mad at us because we didn't know/respond to a family member being in the hospital after he posted it for God and everyone to see. It's almost like, if you post it on FB, then you did your part to inform everyone. I guess I can get rid of my phone now and reactivate my farcebook account.
