Any cooler is affected by ambient temps and how many times it's open and closed. keep drinks in a separate cooler and your food stays cold longer. We've completely melted the ice in a Yeti 110 in one day getting drinks in the summer Texas sun.

Did that in the boat when going up & down and overnighting on the nav channel. Considerable difference. Day trips with just a small amount of food was always one cooler.

I don’t know if they are even still available, but I have 3-4 Igloo Max Cold coolers that perform every bit as well as the 3-4 yeti coolers I have. Thick insulation on all sides including the lid. I replaced the hinges & latches several times over the years. That was the weakest part of the cooler.

I’ve got a couple of Coleman Xtreme Marine coolers that I’m convinced wouldn’t keep ice for over a couple hours, at the South Pole, with the lid open. I use them to store the wild bird seed. About all they’re good for.

Bison coolers are 100% made in USA and not a stupid woke company like Yeti. I have one for the back of my quad and trailer. It’s almost as good as my friends pelican. I’d rather give my money to them than some Walmart brand, but with todays inflation I can’t blame anyone for buying what they need at the price they need.

I can understand that, but as a matter of clarification, Lifetime coolers a 100% made in the USA product as well.

8:30 PM (I got distracted in the range haha)

Cheapie- 41.8 degrees, very little ice left, almost all melted

Fancy- 42.8 degrees (curious it’s higher), lots of more melting has occurred, but still has very large chunks of ice present.

With a little technique, you can really get some long term performance out of rotomolded coolers. If you chill the cooler down overnight with some refreezable ice packs or a few ice trays, you can really get them to last. My 65qt RTIC was pre chilled for 24 hours before loading, and had a total of 40lbs of ice out in it over the weekend (last weekend), and 7 days later, the water is still cool in it. 2 days ago I still had a few ice cubes. It spent 4 days in the bed of my truck in the sun, the past 3 in my non climate controlled garage. You can get even better performance with dry ice. I pre chilled my RTIC for a 2 week trip 2 months ago, put 15lbs of dry ice and some frozen meat in it, among other things. It rode in the bed of my truck, full sun. By day two, everything in the cooler was frozen. I didn’t have to worry about temps getting above freezing in that cooler until the 12th or 13th day of the trip.

For about $100 less than a comparable Yeti, you can’t beat the RTIC coolers. Or if you wanna go cheaper, the Amazon branded rotomolds are a steal. I bought a 45qt to keep in my boat, and it performs just as well as my RTIC.

We bought a wallyworld 70 something quart rotomold when buying our first RV as the fridge was barely big enough for food. Figured to put it on the rear luggage rack for adult refreshments. It worked very well overall. Another of our RV friends bought the same for their 45’ motor coach. He wrapped the base with some foil backed insulation to help the already great cooler.
Filled with beer and soft drinks, one bag of ice lasts a week because it’s in the belly of the coach, not in sunshine.
