For most people the story of the birth of christ is their favorite story of christmas. For me it's the story of the Christmas Truce of 1914 along the western front during the first world war. This was before the United States entered into the Great War. The soldiers were mainly British, French and German. These Men who were taught to hate each other and to kill each other at first sight came together on no man's land and swapped gifts, sang carols, had discussion and even played soccer with each other. This celebration lasted a few days and when it ended and the commanders made them go back, the men couldn't fight each other any more. They had to all be shipped off to different areas. That is humanity and dignity at its finest.
