Was expecting a FedEx delivery yesterday, and when it didn't arrive, I kept watching the tracking info. It finally showed a "Delivery Exception" at 9:31pm, when the truck got back to Sherman, Tx (our local FedEx hub).

The cause was listed as "Local weather delay - Delivery not attempted." Far as I know, we didn't even get a sprinkle yesterday, so I'm guessing the guy just wanted to go home after 15+ hrs (package showed to be on the truck at 6:04am).

    Anywho...

What made me post this was looking at their FAQ today (package still hasn't arrived btw). Here's an excerpt:

The Tracking Page doesn't seem to work. Could the problem be my Web browser?
The FedEx Home Page was constructed using current HTML standards. These standards are supported by most, but not all, WWW browsers. If you are a CompuServe user with a Mosaic browser, you may wish to try Netscape or a similar browser. CompuServe sysop suggests you GO PCFF to download Netscape.

CompuServe users may also want to try loading the new version of CompuServe WinCim 2.01, which has a new version of the Spry-Mosaic browser.

Some America Online users have had trouble because the default settings in version 2.5 of the AOL software include compressed graphics, which adversely affect how the FedEx web site is displayed. You may want to go to Preferences in the Options menu and turn compression off. Should your problems persist, you may wish to contact AOL Technical Support.

Yeah... I'll upgrade from Mosaic to Netscape and call AOL immediately. :D

    1st screw up:
I had a package that was supposed to be delivered today (9 Sept), at 10 am I got an email saying they couldn't gain access to the location...WTF? My apt complex is not gated, I was sitting in the living room with the shades up and saw no one. So since I "missed" the delivery I went to the PX. When I got back there was an email saying it couldn't be delivered since no one was home at 12:45 pm.....WTF? First you "can't get into" my complex then decide you can? I hate every delivery company, UPS, USPS, and ****-ex.

    2nd screw up:
Part I: I just got a call from a stranger the other day (12 Sept). This guy found a couple of packages on the road one with my name, and address on it. One had been opened so I guess he got my number off the receipt. He described the contents, so everything was there fortunately. He is now dropping them off at my apt office. My faith in humanity has been restored. How the boxes got where they were found, that will be a follow up thead.

Part II: No one was at the apt office so the guy called me up again, and he was nice enough to wait for me while I hauled butt to go meet him at the apt. Nice kid, fellow gun enthusiast. Invited him to our weekly lunch (FGST) next week to repay him. He said he found my package, and another guys package on xxx street. I was thinking it was just left on my porch, and some thief made off with it and dropped it in his haste to get away. When I got to my apt there was a fedex door tag saying it wasn't delivered since no one was home, and they will try again Thursday. I'm not going to call fedex today (12 Sept), I'm going to see what happens when they try to "deliver" it tomorrow (13 Sept). Then see what they have to say. Why the thief didn't keep the stuff is weird, there was a holster, Hornady Critical Defense .223, and a 3X prism scope.

So I've been calling fedex the last couple of days to track down my package (that I already have), making them squirm in the attempt to find my package. I'm going to keep this up, and make them pay for the missing package. These delivery companies (fedex/USPS/UPS) need to be taught a lesson for this continued ineptitude.

Sounds like the FedEx guy may have left the rear door open and lost a couple packages on the road. That would explain why they don't realize it was delivered (because it wasn't). Just a thought. :D

My package (from Harbor Freight) finally arrived yesterday afternoon (Sep 13th), but 3 items were missing. Contacted FedEx, and they said I'd have to contact Harbor Freight.

Contacted Harbor freight, and it turns out that FedEx decided to send that box (with the missing 3 items) though their "SmartPost" system where they ship it so far, then mail it via USPS. Expected delivery date is this Monday (Sep 17th). You'd think FedEx customer support could have figured that out.

Frustrating thing is that I ordered this stuff on Labor Day (Sep 3rd). Sheesh, Parcel Post (or a fast mule train) might have been quicker. :bah:

I'm expecting a package from LV Nevada, they are shipping it to Memphis TN. first. Now I'm no rocket scientist, but it seems to me they could save on fuel time and wages by not over shooting Oklahoma by 2 states. Airlines the same thing.

I hear ya. Once had a package from the west coast routed through Canada before it got here.

Sounds crazy, but apparently they stick packages on the first transport(s) with unused space that will eventually get 'em to the destination. I guess unused space is just too valuable to waste. :/

While I really like our local mail delivery girl (the older lady before her was really nice too), the worst package damages I've had were indeed by USPS. They seem to be doing better (for me anyway) in later years though.

Years ago, I had a $110.00 video card destroyed by USPS, and the oven element we're currently using looked like it had been cornered by an angry forklift. Fortunately I was able to straighten the oven element, and the video card was insured.

I've had plastic ammo boxes (.22mag) busted by UPS, but no ammo was lost. What drives me nuts about UPS/Fedex is that they go into stealth mode and leave packages without ringing the doorbell.

For a long time the FedEx driver would leave items at the far end of the carport rather than the porch. However, the new guy (2 months on the job) actually dollied the packages into the house yesterday, and said the other driver is no longer with the company. So maybe things are looking up a bit. :D

I signed up for texts from FedEx and get a notice when a pkg is sent my way plus 2 or 3 more as it moves through their system.
