Where they bust the sod in South Tulsa County.
If I didn't use it for career progression, I certainly wouldnt be on there.
Did your career actually progress from being on there? Did you get a significant promotion or job offer from another company?
Personally I think LI is a waste of time. I wish they had badgered me about assigning a pronoun; I would have used “The Donald”.

If I didn't use it for career progression, I certainly wouldnt be on there. I never post or share but do comment when a colleague shares an achievement. The number of people that treat it like FB with the false humility and "humble" bragging wears me out.
I use it to weed out potential candidates. If someone spends a ton of time posting on there with inane stuff, it's a red flag to me.

I have added layers to my network that have ended up in direct contacts to apply for openings. I will admit that I get FAR more leads and requests for openings through the folks I have worked directly with either as coworkers or colleagues from different companies.

We do use it to promote different industry conferences, initiatives, and helping out people that have fallen on hard times. In the beginning, it was a professional and composed alternative to FB, but I don't get people pushing their political views or personal BS on it at all.

A bit of bragging can be a good thing, even expected and appreciated.

25 years ago, I was looking to hire a Tech. Most times, I could find who wanted through my professional network. I put an ad in the newspaper, listed PMEL was REQUIRED and gave a FAX number for resume'.

The ad comes out. Faxes come through. 100 resumes' and 97, immediately go into File 13.

Secretary comes to tell me I have a visitor. I go to reception and this young guy is standing there, grinning. Says he is there for the Tech job.

Me: "oh, really, what is your PMEL?"

Smiley: "I don't know what that is, but I learn fast. You're not impressed that I figured out where you were?"

Me: "no, I'm not impressed that you can look up a phone number, but have the requirements or follow instructions. You should have looked up the qualifications, instead of wasting my time."

Smiley: "you're not going to interview me?"

I turn to Secretary, "escorted him out, NEVER let him back in. We are done."
