Yes sir, it is. I kind of get why cops wouldn’t want rubberneckers, but in my situation, I was the only witness to what was almost a hit and run. The excuses made for the deputy didn’t hold water, and I didn’t have nice things to say to the sheriff or chief deputy for trying to cover for the @sshole. Since my incident, the chief deputy has been caught perjuring himself in court twice, and the sheriff has covered for him. Everyone wonders why I have a strong distaste for cops… :finger:
There has to be at least one in every group. You did good, and should receive a Good Samaritan medal!

Welcome to America 2.0 ☹

Sadly this happened even in v1.0.
Look up the murder of Kitty Genovese.

"In 1964, Kitty Genovese, was raped and killed outside the apartment building where she lived in Queens. Reports at the time claimed that over 30 witnesses saw or heard the attack, and that none of them called the police or came to her aid."

I get what you're saying and I agree, to a point. I would have a strong distaste for THOSE cops too. But you can't lump all cops into the same category because that's no different than saying everyone of a certain ethnic group or race is bad. I'm sure you know there are a lot of good cops out there and those of us who are (or were in the case of us old retired farts) can assure you that no one hates a bad cop more than good cops.

You’re wasting your breath and bandwidth lecturing me on good cops vs bad cops, so let’s just let that one go right now.

1976, CB in car, I hear a call for help, man states he thinks he is having a heart attack. I keep him talking and get a location. He is on highway shoulder, about 5 miles out of town. I am 5 miles behind him. It is 10:30 pm and very little traffic. I speed up and am going 90-100 mph. THP lights me up. Asked what the emergency was? I told him, gave him the mic. He talks with the guy. Calls for ambulance. Tells me to slow down.

He takes off. I proceed AT 55 SPEED LIMIT.

I pass them about 2 miles down the highway.
THP (i think) comes on CB, "he is stable, be safe."
Keep going and ambulance comes by, just leaving town.

3 months later, I hear trucker chatter on CB, major crash on I-20. I am on access road, see a THP sitting on shoulder. I pulled over, walked up to car, hands out and visible. Tell him what is happening.

He calls for ambulance, fire, Officer on Duty. Thanks me and takes off.

Interesting how many of the other drivers in and around the intersection barely slow down and proceed to move through after the crash. I think I might stop and survey things for minute.
That could also lead to another accident. Slowing down, or worse stopping, at an intersection with a green light? You're just asking for another driver who isn't paying attention to hit you and increase the damage. I was trained to not trust anyone on the road, to treat every other driver like they're LOOKING to cause an accident, and honestly, people who slow down to just LOOK at accidents aren't helping anyone. If you want to help, pull over, but you're just endangering others by suddenly changing the flow of traffic.
Edit: Keep in mind, I'm talking about the action of slowing down to LOOK at the accident, rubbernecking to see what happened instead of focusing on controlling your vehicle. It's completely acceptable to slow down for emergency responders nearby, but if you're just doing it so you can see a dead body or whatever, come on...

Problem is that "THOSE" cops don't exist in a vacuum. Far too many "good cops" know what goes on and look the other way thus negating their "good cop" rating.

Big read here on it.

35 and 45 MPH on those streets from my research.

Could be the driver passed out from some medical issue.
I will not toss stones until more is presented.
Even then tossing stones is not my thing so much.

I will pray for all those involved.

The guy with the drone i do not fault him .. maybe he is not good with blood and passes out maybe
there were many around helping that had better medical skills than him.

He did not interfere with progress with his drone.
Terrible deal for sure.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This Below is a story of mine and may explain why some are afraid to help.

30 something year old woman with groceries in the back seat of her car stopped in the fast lane on I 240 before 29th street exit.

All the cars going around her.
Traffic was crawling because of it.
I came up behind the car put my hazard lights on and got out of my Van and walked up to the car.
She had a death grip on the steering wheel and looking straight ahead.
Finally got her to roll the window down and she said was anyone hurt?

No I said you are sitting in the fast lane.
Put the car in neutral and I will push it off the road.

I hand pushed it into the grassy median and I parked my van sideways behind her car 40 feet.
I had her turn the car off.

She said she passed out and did not know why.
I thought the car was broke down.

I asked if she ate anything that morning and she said yes.
I asked if she had medical issues she said No.
I seen orange juice in the top of one of the grocery bags and got it and told her to drink it.

She called her mother and said she was afraid to drive because she blacked out for no reason and may do it again and her mother was on her way.
She said she never had that happen.

About 4 minutes later a police car drives up and asked what was going on.
I told him and he asked in a mean voice why I stopped I said to help and get the car off the highway where she could get hurt.

He said you need to get out of here.
I began to tell him about her mother coming and he interrupted me and angrily said I need to leave.

I disregarded that and told him I gave her some orange juice in case her blood sugar was low.
Officer got meaner and walked up into my face and began pointing at my van and told me I need to leave right now.

I left and realized some officers are bid D's and found out why many do not want to get involved helping people out.
Fortunately the officer in your story is the exception to the rule. Are there bad cops out there, yes, without a doubt, but there's bad people in every profession I don't care what it is. The difference with a bad cop is when one is revealed for what they are some people (not you) immediately lump all cops into the same category and that's just not fair. Meanwhile others, in different professions, go on about their lives the same as always.

As far as the guy with the drone is concerned I'd agree IF he hadn't said he bought it in hopes of recording some horrific incident and he didn't fly it within 10' of the accident. This guy, IMHO, like most who immediately reach for their phones to record someone else's misfortune was just looking for his viral video and his 15 minutes of fame.

I do agree with you about the possibility that the driver had a medical condition. Maybe we'll find out, maybe not.
