I honestly don't know, but anything supported by the usual suspects makes me suspicious. I'm REALLY beginning to dislike Lankford more and more. He needs to be ousted come his next election. :(

Good luck with that.

Lankford ran on killing ObamaCare. He wasn't in office a month before he voted to continue funding it. Since then he has voted dozens of times to continue funding it.

You have to remember who it was that put him there. It was the Baptists that ran fundraisers and his campaign. Many churches like ObamaCare, including the Baptists.

It is extraordinarily difficult to unseat a Senator. Lankford has that job until he decides he doesn't want it anymore.

Not if he pisses off enough people. It may be time to cast a harsh light on his most ardent supporters. Those bible thumpers might not want to get a lot of questions about why they're acting like Godless liberals! ;)

Still gonna be a heavy lift. I'm on his mailing list because I write him to voice my opinion on matters somewhat often. He responds to every one of his contacts, it's a form letter response, but a response nonetheless and he's very good at writing them in a fashion that seems to be close to a personal response. Plus he puts out these general informational newsletters on the general goings on in D.C. He's far more communicative than any senator that I can recall. This gives the overall impression is that he's responsive to his constituents. Gonna be tough to boot him, he wears that RINO cloak well.

I'll admit he talks a good game, but he really doesn't accurately represent Oklahoma very well. IMO, he represents exactly what's wrong with Washington, DC. I'd just love to see him get "Cantor'd".

“Tax relief for middle class families.”

That’s a joke right? By most accounts, quite a few middle class folks are going to see their taxes go up under this plan.

How can you say that? They are still writing and adjusting the bill.

If you are referring to the removal of state and local income tax deductions, then good riddance. I am tired of subsidizing those folks in highly taxed states like New York and California. Those people need to address their high taxes with their state and local leaders.

The numbers I've seen today show average tax deductions across all income levels, but that could change.

Exactly, there is no reason states like Okla, Tx and others should have to support the liberal coasts that keep electing officials that increase their property taxes to fund socialist issues.
They made their bed, now they need to lay in it while the rest of us enjoy the tax relief.

I’m referring to the elimination of the individual deductions. That alone, for a family of 5, is enough to erase the doubling of the standard deduction even with an increase in the child tax credit. Then add in the state tax deduction elimination and the hit gets bigger. Those key points have been largely unchanged in all the versions I’ve seen and run actual numbers on (vs. just regurgitating talk radio commentary and throwing out buzzwords like “relief”).

If they’re “still writing the bill”....then how can they be touting it as a middle class tax cut?

I get the valid point about ending the subsidy of tax heavy states, but are we going to cheer doing that on the backs of the middle class?
