Ding! Ding! We have a winner! We rented guns at Wilshire and H&H. Visited a half dozen gun shops. At Wilshire, we had a Sig 239 in .380, a Sig 938 in 9mm, and the new Glock 43 single stack in 9mm side by side for comparison. Target at 7 yds. She was all over the target with the 239 Shot the center of the target out with the 938, and did fair enough with the Glock. When she shot the Glock, she had a lot more recoil issues than the 938. I think the over molded hogue grips with finger grooves on the 938 may have made it more manageable. Went to Hoov's shop, where they had a Glock 43 on the shelf. I tried, and Hoov tried to talk her into the 43, because it was pull and shoot without the slide safety of the Sig, but she didn't like the grip, and remembered the recoil issues. There was a set of night sights on the wall ready to be installed on the spot. No go. Rented a Walther, and M&P shield at H&H. No go. Ended up bringing home a 938 with factory installed night sights and a factory trigger guard laser that may or may not stay on. I don't like the ergonomics of it, and it interferes slightly with the grip. Not my gun, so it's up to her if it stays on or not.
