Do Mods get to reply to threads of Firearm for sale when it is locked for further replies. And also do some or all Mods get to review items listed. Scenario that brings my questions to mind. A guy posts 2 Smiths for sale in Firearms section and a Mod replies to it Text sent. But the thread says locked Not open for further replies.

I didn’t even realize the thread was locked. I just texted for pics but didn’t buy anything. Apparently we can but I will be checking from now on. I agree with you magna, that would not be fair IMO.

IIRC, the person who creates the post opens it for replies, or leaves it closed which "locks" it.

I can vouch for dlbleak...he didn't get any better shot at the gun just by being a mod. My brother was the buyer on the K22.

In all fairness, the OP did say to text him for pics!

Been there/done that on another forum. Didn't realize another Mod had locked it, so I replied to some snarky remark a guy made (which had gotten the thread locked in the first place).

Hats off to you Mods for all the stuff ya'll have to deal with. It ain't always easy (or fun) as it looks.

This is correct. The reason is to keep the comments down in the classifieds themselves. However, even if a thread is "locked", which it is by default unless the person who creates it opens it for replies, any member can reply by PM to the OP.

Being a Mod doesn't get you first crack at anything. It does get you a few wisecracks though.
