My kids and I set up in a ground blind tonight to test using red dot optics against swine bathed in green light focused a fenced deer feeder. Just this afternoon, we installed a Sniper Hog Lights Exterminator III LED (green) feeder light. After about three hours (9 PM) two hogs showed up. After watching them eat for about 15 minutes at the edge of the light, we elected to have my eldest take one or both out vs waiting until both of my boys had a clear shot. He took a decent sized boar (guesstimate of 250 lbs).

Someday, I’ll buy a thermal scope, but until then I’m sold on the feeder light approach. Not posting a photo of my boy with a huge smile, but will share a few photos. For the next hunt, we’re going to only place corn straight out from the blind, not 360 degrees around the feeder fence. That way, we should have a better chance for multiple kids (or me) to harvest/eliminate some.
