Ok, I was doing pretty good for the last year or so and then started PT 90 days before my surgery to increase the strength of certain muscles. Pain management was not a consideration so to say it was a pleasant experience would be a bold faced lie. Basically, if I wasn't at PT, or doing the exercises on my off days at home, I was chewing up pain pills, muscle relaxants and anti-anxiety meds. I gained 15 pounds and feel like I lost all the gains I'd made in cardio endurance. 2 days after surgery (2 weeks ago tomorrow) I started walking up and down the block and doing gentle stretches. Day before yesterday I walked my first full mile and a half since before PT started. I fully expect to get my post open PT orders tomorrow. Friday I have an appointment at the gym with a trainer to go back to work on rebuilding my endurance, cardio-wise. I think I cannot start lifting weight (or doing bodyweight workouts) for another 3 months. I'll find out tomorrow, for sure. Hopefully being accountable to you guys will help me gain back the fitness I lost and finish what I started last year.
