I always liked the old foxfire series, that preserves some dying knowledge of past times. A series of old techniques.

First published in 1972, The Foxfire Book was a surprise bestseller that brought Appalachia's philosophy of simple living to hundreds of thousands of readers. Whether you wanted to hunt game, bake the old-fashioned way, or learn the art of successful moonshining, The Foxfire Museum and Heritage Center had a contact who could teach you how with clear, step-by-step instructions. This classic debut volume of the acclaimed series covers a diverse array.

book 1 contains

The Foxfire Book: Hog Dressing, Log Cabin Building, Mountain Crafts and Foods, Planting by the Signs, Snake Lore, Hunting Tales,

I’ve never heard of them but they sound interesting and I may need to get a set of these books

The foxfire series we have and good books to have on hand. Both series are of great benefit should the lights go out.

Not in Oklahoma!
I have Salad Bar Beef and Pastured Poultry Profits.

Good author! Good books!

Up until a few years ago, there was a guy up here in Ohio who also was a terrific author. Gene Logsdon.

I have his All Flesh is Grass, and Small Scale Grain Raising. Good books!

I'd cast my vote to let Joel Salatin run the USDA
